The Ultimate AI Video Editing Automation That Edits and Posts Your Content Automatically

If editing and posting your videos is slowing you down, you are not alone. For creators, entrepreneurs, and anyone trying to grow online, the hardest part is staying consistent. Most people quit, not because they lack ideas or passion, but because editing and posting takes too long.

This is exactly where AI video editing changes everything.

In this guide, I am going to show you how to build a complete AI powered workflow that edits your videos, writes your captions, and posts everything automatically. All you do is drop a raw clip into a folder. A few minutes later, your fully edited content is live on your social platforms.

I also included a free automation template you can import into Make so you can set this up today with zero coding.

Let’s walk through the full system.

Why AI Video Editing Is a Game Changer for Creators πŸš€

Consistency is everything when it comes to growing online. The more often you publish, the more chances you give your content to hit. But consistency becomes impossible when you are spending hours editing videos every week.

AI video editing removes that friction.

It handles the repetitive parts of editing including trimming silence, removing bad takes, adding captions, inserting zooms, and even adding b roll. When you combine AI video editing with automation, you get a workflow that lets you focus on creating instead of sitting in an editing timeline for hours.

This lets you:

β€’ Publish more content
β€’ Stay consistent without burnout
β€’ Reduce your editing time down to minutes
β€’ Keep your creative energy for filming
β€’ Grow faster because you are finally posting frequently

This setup gives you about 80 to 90 percent of the quality of a human editor with a fraction of the time, effort, and cost.

What This AI Video Editing Automation Will Do for You ⚑️

Here is the full list of what the automation handles. Once you set it up, you never touch editing or scheduling again.

β€’ Pulls your raw file from a Dropbox folder
β€’ Automatically edits your clip with Submagic
β€’ Removes silence and dead air
β€’ Cuts repeated takes
β€’ Adds AI powered captions
β€’ Adds smart zooms
β€’ Optionally adds AI generated b roll
β€’ Transcribes your audio
β€’ Writes captions with ChatGPT
β€’ Posts the video directly to Instagram and Facebook
β€’ Can also post to LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and more
β€’ Runs automatically every 15 minutes

All you have to do is record a clip on your phone or camera and drop it into the folder.

The rest happens automatically.

What You Need to Build This AI Editing System 🧰

Here are the tools this workflow uses. These are all platforms you can set up in a few minutes.

1. Make

Make is the visual automation builder that runs the workflow. It is where you will import the free template.

2. Dropbox

This acts as the trigger. When you upload a file, the automation starts. Dropbox is easier and more reliable than Google Drive for this type of workflow.

3. Submagic

This is the heart of the AI video editing step. Submagic edits your video automatically, adds captions, trims silence, adds zooms, and more.

4. ChatGPT API

Chatgpt writes your social media caption for you based on your transcription.

Now let’s set everything up.

Step 1. Create Your Trigger Folder in Dropbox πŸ“

Start by creating a new folder in Dropbox. This is where all future raw videos will go.

Upload a test clip so you can run your automation later.

Inside Make, go to:

Scenarios > Create Scenario > Import Blueprint

Upload the free template file.

You will see the Dropbox module at the start of the workflow. Connect your Dropbox account and choose the folder you created. Set the limit to 1 unless you plan to bulk upload.

Once that is done, you are ready for the next step.

Step 2. Automate Your Editing with Submagic 🎬✨

This is where the real AI video editing happens. Submagic takes your raw clip and gives you a polished, social ready video without touching a timeline.

Here is what Submagic does automatically:

β€’ AI captions
β€’ Zooms and punch ins
β€’ Silence trimming
β€’ Cutting repeated lines
β€’ Adding relevant b roll
β€’ Cleaning up the pacing of your video

To connect it:

  1. Log into Submagic

  2. Go to Account Settings

  3. Open the API tab

  4. Generate an API key

  5. Copy the key

Back in Make, click the Submagic module and paste your key in the field.

You will see some fields and code already filled in. You do not need to change any of it unless you want to customize your editing.

For example:

β€’ If you want Hormozi style captions, leave it as is
β€’ If you want Beast style captions, change the template name
β€’ If you want more or less b roll, change the 50 percent frequency
β€’ If you want faster silence trimming, adjust the value

These are all optional. The default setup is solid.

Once Submagic receives your file, it begins AI video editing automatically.

Step 3. Pull the Edited Video Back Into Make 🎞️

When Submagic finishes processing, the next module retrieves the final video URL. This is what Make uses to post your content.

You do not have to touch anything here. Just make sure your API key is added.

Step 4. Use ChatGPT to Write Your Captions βœοΈπŸ€–

This is where the caption writing happens.

You will use the ChatGPT API to:

β€’ Read the transcription
β€’ Summarize your message
β€’ Write a short social caption
β€’ Include relevant hashtags
β€’ Add a clear call to action

To set it up:

  1. Visit platform.openai.com

  2. Go to API keys

  3. Generate a new key

  4. Load five dollars into your account

  5. Add your key to the ChatGPT module in Make

You do not need to modify the prompt. I wrote a complete prompt that handles everything automatically.

Step 5. Auto Post Your AI Edited Videos to Social Media πŸ“²πŸ”₯

Now for the final step. Posting.

In the template, I included examples for Instagram Business and Facebook Reels. You can add as many platforms as you want.

β€’ TikTok
β€’ LinkedIn
β€’ YouTube
β€’ Twitter
β€’ Pinterest

Just add the module and map the fields the same way.

Once connected, Make will post your edited clip with your caption automatically.

Testing Your AI Video Editing Automation πŸ§ͺ

Before you turn it on, you should test the workflow once.

Inside Make:

  1. Right click the first module

  2. Click Choose Where to Start

  3. Select Manually

  4. Pick your test file

  5. Click Run Once

You will see it move through each step:

β€’ Dropbox retrieves the file
β€’ Submagic begins editing
β€’ The Wait module allows time for rendering
β€’ ChatGPT writes your caption
β€’ Instagram and Facebook post your content

Check Instagram or Facebook to confirm it worked.

You will see your freshly edited clip with captions and b-roll ready to go.

Turning Your Automation On πŸ”›

Once your test succeeds, toggle the workflow on in the top right corner.

Set the interval to 15 minutes. This means Make checks your Dropbox folder every 15 minutes to see if a new file was added.

And that is it.

Your workflow is now fully automated.

Your New Content Routine 🎯

From now on, your workflow becomes incredibly simple.

  1. Record a clip

  2. Drop it into your Dropbox folder

  3. Go back to your day

Within a few minutes, your video is edited by AI, captioned by AI, and posted automatically.

This is exactly how you stay consistent without burning yourself out.

Is AI Video Editing as Good as a Professional Editor? πŸŽ›οΈ

Not exactly. But it is not supposed to be.

A human editor is always going to deliver higher production value. But AI video editing gives you the most important advantage: speed.

You get 80 to 90 percent of the editing quality with about 1 percent of the effort and almost no cost.

When the goal is publishing consistently, that trade off is worth it.

And if you want polished, highly produced videos later, you can always invest in editing for your top performing content.

Try the AI Video Editing Automation for Yourself πŸŽ₯πŸ”₯

If you want to save hours every week and finally stay consistent online, I highly recommend trying this system. It takes minutes to set up and runs in the background while you focus on creating.

You can watch the full tutorial and download the free automation template above.

This setup will change how you create, edit, and publish content. If you want more automation tutorials like this, keep an eye out. I have more coming.

Hope this helps you create more with less effort.
